Co-Player of the Week: Stacey Smith, Lincoln

Smith helped the Blue Tigers reach the Heartland Conference Tournament for the first time in five years by averaging 19.5 points and 10 rebounds in the two games this past week against Texas-Permian Basin and Oklahoma Panhandle State. Against the Aggies, Smith posted a season-high 28 points, while also grabbing 13 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season. Smith blocked six shots against OPSU for another season-high, as she finished with eight for the week. Smith also went 15-for-33 (45.5) from the field, including four three-pointers, eight assists and five steals, while averaging 38.5 minutes.
Co-Player of the Week: Nia Torru, Incarnate Word
Guard, SR, Houston, TX
In the final two games of her senior season, senior Nia Torru averaged 20 points-per-game and pulled down 21 rebounds for the Cardinals. On the road against Arkansas-Fort Smith, Torru earned her fourth double-double of the 2009-2010 season in what head coach Angela Lawson called “the best efforts I have ever seen from Nia in her four years,” playing the entire 40 minutes and shooting a perfect 9-for-9 at the free throw line to go with her 25 points and 12 rebounds. In the season finale against Midwestern State, Torru scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, hitting a clutch 3-pointer with 0:29 left to play to knot the score at 66-66 and give her team a chance to pull off the comeback win.
