Heartland Conference to Host 2015-16 Basketball Championships at Union Multipurpose Activity Center

Waco, Texas - The Heartland Conference is pleased to announce they will be partnering with the Union Multipurpose Activity Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma to host the 2015-16 men’s and women’s Heartland Conference Basketball Championships.

The tournaments which will run from March 3-6 will be played in the John Q. Hammons Arena portion of the UMAC. 

Tony Stigliano the Heartland Conference Commissioner stated, “To be able to expand our basketball tournament to eight teams is a great thing for us and being able to play it at such a great facility makes it that much better.  We look forward to working with the UMAC and know this will be a great venue for our student athletes to compete in.”

The Union Multipurpose Activity Center (also known as the UMAC) is a 5,662-seat multipurpose arena located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was built in 2003 and is the home of the Union High School Redskins basketball team. It has previously hosted The Summit League's men’s basketball tournament from 2005 to 2008.

The John Q. Hammons arena contains 2,934 permanent seats and can host concerts, trade shows (27,480 square feet (2) of space at the arena floor), conventions, and other events. There are 6 concession stands and 14 restrooms divided equally between the men and women. There is also a center scoreboard at the UMAC, which features a 6' x 8' video screen.

The tournament will be two eight team single elimination tournaments.  The women will kick things off on Thursday, March 3rd playing their quarterfinal games.  The men will then play their quarterfinal games on Friday, March 4th.  Both the men and women will play their semifinal games on Saturday, March 5th, and the championship games will be Sunday, March 6th.
