Waco, Texas - Dallas Baptist’s Joaquin Arguelles and St. Mary’s Maria Regina Gonzalez named Heartland Men’s and Women’s Golfers of the Week for tournaments played from Sept. 14 - Sept. 20.
Men’s Golfer of the Week
Joaquin Arguelles, Dallas Baptist
Sophomore, Oaxtepec, Mexico
Joaquin Arguelles finished second on the individual leaderboard at the NCCAA Central Regional with a three-round total of 211(+1), highlighted by a two-under 68 in the final round. He helped DBU to a victory in the regional, as the Patriots shot a combined 883 (+43) on the par-70 6,574-yard course.
Women’s Golfer of the Week
Maria Regina Gonzalez, St. Mary’s
Sophomore, San Miguel, Mexico
St. Mary's sophomore Maria Regina Gonzalez shot a final-round 2-under-par 70 to surge toward a tie for third place at the WNMU Invite in Goodyear, Arizona. Gonzalez, who shot an even-par 144 for the tournament following an opening-round 74, finished three strokes off the lead. Her performance helped the Rattlers climb from 12th place after Round 1 to a fourth-place finish, where the team's final-round 287 tied for the tournament's best single-round performance.
