DBU Patriots Win Men and Women Cross Country Conference Championships

The DBU Patriots Cross Country Teams swept the 2010 Heartland Conference cross country championships on Saturday in Wichita, Kansas.  The championship marked the fourth straight title for the Lady Patriots and the first title since the 2007 season for the Patriots men team.

The Lady Patriots were led by Senior Tabbitha Ashford, who covered the course in 22:09.63, which was eight seconds better than the second place runner.  The Lady Patriots had five runners finish in the top ten, including the top two places.  DBU ran away with the race by beating the second place Newman Jets by 29 points.

The Patriots men team was led by a group of runners.  DBU had a runner finish in the third through sixth position and won the championship by 25 points over second place finish UTPB.  The Patriots top runner was Freshman Jacob Phillips, who finished in third place.  Junior Raudel Miranda, from UTPB won the individual conference championship.
