Four men's soccer players earn All-America honors

2018 D2CCA Men's Soccer All-America Team

WACO, Texas –
Five Heartland men’s soccer student-athletes were named to the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) Men’s Soccer All-America Team.
 
Midwestern State’s Rory O’Keeffe earned first team honors as the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Year is the first D2CCA first team honoree for the Mustangs since they joined the Heartland Conference in 2016. O’Keeffe was first in the Heartland among defenders in goals this season with six goals and anchored a defense that allowed just 12 goals this season. Joining O’Keeffe on the All-America team was teammate Taylor Lampe who earned second team honors. Lampe allowed just .57 goals against average and posted nine shutouts this season. He was tied for the ninth-most clean sheets in Division II this season.
 
St. Mary’s forward and Heartland Player and Offensive Player of the Year Pato Botello Faz was also named to the second team. Botello became the first All-American for the Rattlers since joining the Heartland in 1999. The senior led the conference in scoring with 18 goals and was first in points with 42. His six game-winning goals was also a conference high.
 
West Texas A&M junior Lucca Lima picked up third team All-America honors after the midfielder led the Buffs to a South Central Regional Championship this season. Lima was fifth in the Heartland in total points this season scoring 11 goals and adding seven assists.
 
The four student-athletes now put the Heartland’s men’s soccer All-American total at 36.
