WACO, Texas -- Lubbock Christian outfielder Caleb Koedyker and St. Edward’s pitcher Stuart Springer have earned Heartland Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week honors for games played from Feb. 13 - Feb. 19.
Hitter of the Week
Caleb Koedyker, Lubbock Christian
Outfielder, Sr., Seminole, Texas
Caleb had a solid series against No.8 Angelo State registering a .500 batting average, which included a trio of home runs and a double for a 1.214 slugging mark and eight runs driven in. He opened the series with a pair of home runs and five RBI off a 3-for-5 performance from the plate. He followed with a 3-for-4 outing in the second game of the series, leading to three RBI. He also had a pair of stolen bases and four runs scored for the Chaps. This is Koedyker’s first weekly honor and marks the second straight week an LCU hitter has received the award.
Pitcher of the Week
Stuart Springer, St. Edward’s
LHP, Sr., San Antonio, Texas
Stuart Springer made his first two starts of the season last week and went 2-0, including a complete-game gem against Colorado School of Mines. The San Antonio native won his debut Tuesday against Texas A&M-International allowing zero runs in 3.2 innings before capping his week with a 13-1 win over Mines. He allowed just one run in 10.2 innings of work with nine strikeouts for an .84 ERA white holding opponents to a .184 batting average. Springer his now 12-1 in his career at St. Edward’s. This is Springer’s first weekly award this season and is the second pitcher of the week honor claimed by the Hilltoppers this season.
