WACO, Texas - Three standouts have been named Heartland Golfers of the Week as Oklahoma Christian’s Pablo Duster, DBU’s Hanna Harrison and St. Mary’s Kelly Contreras picked up the weekly honors for tournaments played from Sept. 20 - Sept. 26.
Men’s Golfer of the Week
Pablo Duster, Oklahoma Christian
Freshman, Buenos Aires, Argentina
In just his second collegiate tournament, freshman Pablo Duster shot 69-72-68--209 (-7) to finish third at the Western Washington Invitational at Bellingham Golf and Country Club in Bellingham, Wash. (par 72, 6561 yards). Duster's 7-under score tied for 20th on the all-time OC list for the best 54-hole score in relation to par and in his six collegiate rounds, he's played five at or under par. He led OC to a runner-up finish in the 16-team field, beating (among others) No. 24-ranked Western Washington. This is Duster’s first career player of the week award.
Women’s Co-Golfers of the Week
Hanna Harrison, DBU
Sophomore, Plano, Texas
DBU sophomore Hanna Harrison helped lift DBU to a second place finish at the NCAA National Preview after tying for fourth on the individual leaderboard with a 2-over par, 146. Facing a field that included six teams that advanced to last year's National Championships Harrison carded a 1-under par, 71, in the final round to help the Lady Patriots climb from seventh place after round one to a second-place showing. This is the first weekly honor of the season for the reigning Heartland Freshman of the Year.
Kelly Contreras, St. Mary’s
Senior, San Antonio, Texas
St. Mary’s senior Kelly Contreras set the tone for the Rattlers during the NCAA DII National Preview, leading the team by shooting a 2-over par (146) for the tournament, finishing tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard, her best finish of the fall. Her final round 74, which followed an opening round 72, sealed a third-place finish for the Rattlers, the team's best result of the fall season. This is Contreras’ first weekly award this season.
