WACO, Texas - Newman’s Lee Maddox and Dallas Baptist’s Addison Mitchell have been named the Heartland Men’s and Women’s Golfer of the Week for tournaments played from Mar. 1 - Mar. 7.
Men’s Golfer of the Week

Sophomore, Cypress, Texas
Maddox carded a 1-under 70 in the final round of the Arbor Hotels Classic in Lubbock, Texas, the fifth-lowest round of the day, to shoot up the leaderboard into a tie for seventh. The sophomore finished at 3-over 219 for the event, helping the Jets to a 10th-place finish. This is Maddux’s first weekly honor this season.
Women’s Golfer of the Week
Addison Mitchell, Dallas Baptist
Freshman, Fort Smith, Ark.
Addison Mitchell claimed her first collegiate win with a two-under performance at the Armstrong State Pirate Women's Invitational this week. The freshman from Fort Smith, Ark., carded rounds of 74, 68 and 72 to finish as the only competitor below par. Mitchell led her team to their fifth win in 2016-17, defeating a field with two top-10 schools. Her four-under score in round two highlighted a seven-under round for the team, which set a new school record. This is Mitchell’s first career golfer of the week honor.
