WACO, Texas - Dallas Baptist University’s Chase Brincat and St. Mary’s Paige Weiss have been named the Heartland Golfers of the Week for tournaments played from Mar. 29 - April 4.
Men’s Golfer of the Week
Chase Brincat, Dallas Baptist University
Senior, San Antonio, Texas
DBU senior Chase Brincat finished in second place at the DBU Patriot Classic, carding a -4 under par, 212, at the Hackberry Creek Country Club in Irving, Texas. Brincat, who finished just one shot out of first place, fired a -4 under par 68 in round one, followed by back-to-back rounds of 72. Over three rounds of action, Brincat totaled 11 birdies. This is Brincat’s first golfer of the week honor.
Women’s Golfer of the Week
Paige Weiss, St. Mary’s
Sophomore, Huntsville, Texas
St. Mary's Paige Weiss won her second tournament of the season, shooting an even-par 144 to win the West Texas A&M Desert Invite by six strokes. In the process, the sophomore led the Rattlers to their fourth team victory of the season and the team's sixth top-two finish in the last seven tournaments. Weiss opened up with a 1-under 71 before carding a 1-over 73 in the final round at The Lodge at Ventana Canyon in Tucson, Arizona. This is Weiss’ second weekly honor this season.
